Congratulations to Molly Hondel, our first grade Kindness Award recipient! Her teacher shared, “Molly loves complimenting her classmates and calling them her best friends. She helps put equipment away at recess, helps find things that people have lost, and jumps to help when someone spills or drops their materials. When her teacher tells her "have a good lunch," she gives her a big hug and says, "you have a good lunch too!" You are amazing Molly!” Great job, Molly!

Congratulations to Lydia Ceniceros, our Kindness Award recipient! Her teacher shared, “Lydia shows kindness by reaching out to her friends during class time and recess to hold hands or give hugs. She looks at her friends, smiles, and is very gentle. Lydia is kind to others!” Great job, Lydia!

Congratulations to Kobe Hansen, our Kindergarten Kindness Award recipient! His teacher shared, “Kobe is friends with everyone. He always has nice things to say to his classmates. He is helpful to the students at his table and is willing to share and help them out when they need it. We love having Kobe in our class!” Great job, Kobe!

This month’s character theme was Being Responsible, and Mrs. Brindley visited every classroom to talk with students about what responsibility looks like in action. These amazing Falcons went above and beyond in December, showing responsibility in their words, actions, and choices. We are so proud of them!

Today is National Twin Day! We loved celebrating our Twin Falcons at our SOAR assembly. Did you know we have 12 sets of twins at Foothills? Double the fun, double the Falcons!

All the students got to learn about Ludwig Van Beethoven and how his love of music overcame his loss of hearing. They even learned that no matter what hardships they go through, they can still do the things they love just like Beethoven. The students got to color a different piece of Beethoven collaboration art and they turned out beautifully!

The 5th graders came and played “pass the candy cane” with the first graders. It was lots of fun to see who ended up with the best candy canes. The 1st graders love having a 5th grade buddy.

Mrs. Gurney's class celebrated having great behavior for 2nd term by attending the school end of term party at the movie theater!

The Salem Hills High School baseball team has a baseball camp coming up during Christmas break!

Our Treehouse is Ready for Christmas! ✨🎄

Our little Treehouse crew has been busy turning our space into a cozy winter wonderland! ❄️

The kids helped make the prettiest paper snowflakes, covered our whiteboard in festive window clings, decorated our class tree with so much excitement, and curled up with their favorite Christmas books. ❤️📚

Nothing beats seeing their creativity and holiday joy shine!

WINTER READING PROGRAM
Join Salem City Library’s Winter Reading Program, running December 1–January 31! Kids ages 5 through adults can sign up to earn prizes as they read. Every 300 minutes earns a small incentive reward and an e-ticket towards a large prize! Paper trackers are available at the library.

STORYBOOK CHRISTMAS EVENT
Kick off Christmas week at the library with a joyful celebration for all ages! Enjoy festive games, hands-on activities, and visits from special guests—all inspired by favorite holiday books!

Next week is our final week before Christmas Break, and we’re celebrating in style! Join us for a festive spirit week inspired by your favorite Christmas songs. Each day has a fun dress-up theme to help us bring in all the holiday cheer together.

We can’t wait to see our Falcons decked out and ready to jingle all the way!

We have been learning about energy and collisions. On Friday we did a fun experiment where we tested different ideas on how far marbles can go in the tracks they made. They had so much fun experimenting, planning and exploring different ideas.

Mrs. Haroldsen’s 1st grade got to go meet and play with Santa. Even some family members were able to meet us there. All students had a great time.

TOMORROW! Foothills Elementary is excited to announce auditions for our school musical, Roald Dahl’s Matilda Jr.! This is an excellent opportunity for our 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students to shine on stage, build confidence, and be part of a fantastic theatre experience. Auditions will be held after school on Monday, December 8th. Students can sign up for an audition time using the QR code on the flyer, and all audition details, including rehearsal dates and parental agreement information, are available on our school website. We can’t wait to see our Falcons share their creativity, talent, and bravery as they bring this magical story to life!
